Hands-on review: ZVEX Effects Fuzz Probe

I bought this guitar new back in 1986 at a small local music store. I paid $200 at a half off sale with the case.

Narrow neck makes it easy to shred and the action is outstanding. Two double/single coil humbucker pick-ups that sound great for the old 80's metal. It has a generic tremelo but it works quite nicely and stays in tune well. Very easy to play.

The holes on the back cover don't really match up with the string holes so I have to used the tremelo bar to position it so I can change strings without taking the cover off. Other than that I can't complain, I've had it a long time and it has never let me down.

This guitar is very well put together and SOLID. It has a pull switch built into the tone knob for switching from double to single coil in the pick-ups. pretty cool. I have beat the daylights out of it in the 18 years that I have had it(and I play it a lot) and it takes the beatings and keeps on rockin'.

I really like this guitar alot. I have several other guitars of more respected names(IBANEZ and GIBSON) and this one stands up to them all. I have gigged with it for 18 years and its still sounds great and plays perfectly. I have heard people scoff at the name ARIA PRO II, but I suspect that some people just think if it doesnt say Fender, Jackson, Ibanez or Gibson etc, then it must suck. I give it an enthusiastic thumbs up.
